The Education Board of the South Central Province was established in the School Heads meeting of the South Central Province which is been held from the 22nd to the 26th of June 2010. The Board was established by the State Minister of the South Central Province Mr. Ahmed Mujthaba at a special meeting held at the conference hall of Hamadh Bin Al Khaleefa Al’Thaanee School. The aim of establishing such a board is to work hand in hand with the Education Unit of the province to give a better education to the students of the province. The aims also include bringing into effect the responsibilities of the education sector which falls into the State Minister’s hand.
In addressing the gathering, Mr. Ahmed Mujthaba said that establishing the board is opening another chapter of the education sector of the province and urged the members of the board to work hard and show an excellent outcome. He also assured the members that he would ask for their advice in finalizing any decisions which he has to regarding educational issues.
The Education Board consists of the State Minister of the province, Superintendent of the Education Unit, 5 Heads of schools from Thaa Atoll and 5 Heads of schools from Laamu Atoll. A secret ballot was held to select the school heads from both the atolls. The official website of the Education Unit of the province was also launched at this meeting.
